How Custom Jewelry is Made

Our custom jewelry design process starts with a consultation. You’ll meet with our designers to discuss your ideas for your future custom piece. You can bring sketches, inspiration photos, or just share your thoughts. Even if you don’t have a fully formed idea in your head, we can help you flesh out a design.
After you finalize a design with the help of our artisans, they will take the professional sketch and use it to get started on your piece! They'll use computer-aided design (CAD) to help turn that sketch into a 3D model. Guided by the CAD creation, our custom jewelers will then turn your design into a wax model that you can see, hold, and sign off on. After receiving your approval, they will cast the wax model into a finished piece of custom jewelry, created with any precious metals, gemstones, and diamonds you requested for the piece.  

Jewelry Redesign and Restyling

Jewelry redesign and restyling allows you to take an old piece and transform it into something new. Whether it’s an heirloom piece passed down for generations or a pendant you bought ten years ago that doesn’t fit your current style, we can work with you to transform it into something new!
We will take the aspects of the piece that you love and incorporate them into a new design. Some common redesign options include resetting diamonds and gemstones from an old ring or necklace into a brand new piece of your choosing, or adding new custom elements to spice up an old piece of jewelry.

How Long Does Custom Jewelry Take?

A typical time frame for custom jewelry design is 4-6 weeks, but this may vary based on a number of factors. The time frame may be shorter or longer based on the complexity of your piece, the availability of materials used in the design, and our designers’ workload–the holiday season is especially busy. In general, we recommend coming in for your custom design consultation about two months in advance of when you would like your completed piece, just to be safe.
